Patient Information Sheet
Indications for Use:
Stimate® is a synthetic product used to stimulate the release of proteins necessary for blood clotting. It is used often for patients with von Willebrand Disease, mild Hemophilia, and for women with heavy menstrual periods. It is given in a nasal spray form.
Directions for Use:
Dosing is determined by body weight. Use Stimate® as directed by your physician, but the typical dose is generally one puff or one puff per nostril (for a total of two puffs).
Be sure to keep a record of the days you give yourself Stimate®.
Other Important Info While Using Stimate®:
- DO NOT use more than once every 24 hours. If indicated, a second dose may be required, but do not give a second dose without notifying our office at the clinic number below.
- DO NOT use for more than 2 days.
- Decrease the amount of fluids you drink to no more than four to six 8 oz. glasses for 24 hours after you use Stimate®. One of the side effects of Stimate® is that your body will hold excess fluid. If you don’t control your fluid intake, too much fluid will dilute the levels of salt in your body. Too little salt in the body can lead to serious problems. Examples of fluids include broth, Popsicles, ice cream, gelatin, tea, coffee, juice, soda, beer, wine, and water.
- Eat salty foods while using Stimate® (see explanation above)
